Swansea on the other hand led by Gary Monk, did take their chances on either side of half-time as goals from Ki Sung-Yueng and Gylfi Sigurdsson guaranteed all three points for the Welsh outfit.
Rooney did get one goal back for the home side straight after the half-time break. However, the United midfielders did little to create anything significant going forward, leaving their new captain frustrated throughout the game.
